The Road to Santiago:
Galicia
Photographs by David S. Rose
The land is called Galicia.

Galicia is a region in northwestern Spain that borders Portugal. To the north and west lies the Atlantic Ocean and has a mild temperate climate. It rains a lot in Galicia so the landscape is very green, much like Ireland and Prince Edward Island.
The region of Galicia is perhaps best known for the city of Santiago. The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela contains the relics of St James. This is where pilgrims end their trek of the Camino de Santiago, following the ‘way of St James’. These photographs were taken during a pilgrimage through the beautiful landscapes of Galicia.
It is said that to walk the ‘way of St James’, even for non-believers, is a spiritual experience that leaves its mark on you for the rest of your life.
